 OPS Australia Preview
Posted by MaxPayne - 05-16-07 23:39 - 0 comments
# People are reading newspapers, gesturing whilst talking on their mobile phones, people sitting on seats while talking and absent-mindedly flicking dust off their jeans. "We really know we're in Liberty City when we see an 80-year old granny staggering down the street as she takes swigs from a bottle of whiskey."

# You can feel the bass of passing cars, and hear the radio that they're listening to when it goes past.

# Niko passes an ATM and it prompts him to "access funds". It's likely that if you die, you may lose all your money, so putting it in a bank when you get a substantial amount seems like a good idea. The magazine also hints at being able to bribe people and the possibility of being mugged.

# As has been said, one can travel from the road into a building with no load times. Manual aim has been upgraded considerably from SA, and is now much easier.

# Niko exits into a seedy back alley, where it is "populated by piles of litter, weeds and homeless guys huddling around fires in barrels."

# As Niko ascends a telegraph pole, the animations are smooth. Also, at the top, the vertical density of the city can be fully realized. "The skyline is crowded with complex architecture, above-ground train-lines, fire escapes, endless billboards and the Broker Bridge in the distance."

# Niko breaks into an easy jog, showing realistic fluidity, leaning his body into corners as he takes them. A random passing car bumps into him and Niko stumbles backwards before regaining composure.

# Niko smashes a car window, hot-wires the car and climbs in while glass clatters to the ground.

# Broker has the real-life feeling of a bustling, lush new cityscape. Sunlight reflects off the car's paintwork, and the shadows are beautifully realized. The back streets of Broker, however, are much different. They are "a grungy mixture of rundown factories, overflowing dumpsters and dank back alleys."

# Driving physics have been "tirelessly tweaked and enhanced"

# On the size of GTA IV: "Dan Houser: Well, area wise, the scope is about the same as San Andreas. I don't know exactly how it compares area to area, but it's bigger then any one city we've had in a game before." Also, "If we give people exactly what they think the want then, a) we're not doing a very interesting job any more and, cool.gif we're not going to amaze them."

# OPS asked "In terms of weaponry and vehicles you had a pretty good spread in San Andreas," to which Dan Houser replied "Yeah, I don't think we will be adding vast numbers of things there." They explain that its about honing in and tightening. "So, for example, with game in one city there are no longer planes because there's nowhere to fly to. ...you take planes to get here, and you don't take planes to get across the city."

# A big part of the gameplay will be on the rooftops, apparently. It should be very fun.

# Also, as a side note, they haven't really thought about San Andreas Stories, they are thinking of other things at the moment.

Dr. Phil Blames Games for VA Shootings
Posted by MaxPayne - 04-21-07 16:01 - 0 comments
"In the wake of yesterday’s horrific shootings at Virginia Tech, gadfly attorney Jack Thompson was not the only one who was quick to place blame on violent video games. Noted T.V. shrink Dr. Phil McGraw appeared on CNN’s Larry King Live last night to discuss the rampage."

Source: Game Politics.com

By the way, we at GTA House are really sorry for all of the lives lost at the Virginia Tech massacre. We hope that everyone can pull together and make it through. We will never forget the Virginia Tech massacre.

 GTA IV Info Released
Posted by MaxPayne - 04-15-07 18:50 - 0 comments
Well some lucky subscribers of the gaming magazine GameInformer have been fortune to get their hands on the World Exclusive Preview of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV, the preview contains a 10 page exclusive preview. There appear to be a few photographs of the magazine floating around, we of course aren't allowed to post them here, however we have the following facts:-
    Facts:
  • The main character's name is Niko Bellic - based on the surname it is likely he is from a former Yugoslav country (perhaps Croatia, Serbia or Bosnia)
  • Multiplayer modes are to be announced
  • Since it's only New York, there will be no planes in the game (?)
  • The game has an awesome soundtrack
  • You will use a cell phone to call contacts
  • You have a lot of free choice over what you do in the game - it isn't like previous games in the sense of just accepting missions and completing them, there's a lot more you can do this time.

 GTA IV Website & Trailer
Posted by MaxPayne - 03-30-07 23:52 - 0 comments
The GTA IV website has been updated and the trailer has been added. The trailer looks absolutely amazing and based on it, it looks like GTA IV will take place in New York City. But the problem with that is that Liberty City is based on New York City, so basically this is the fourth NYC in the GTA series. Also, it looks like the protaganist is white and European.

Here is a reduced-in-size You Tube video of the GTA IV Trailer, for those GTA players who don't like to put in there age to view things, or are a little young (we understand).

Also here is some information from Wikipedia.org and a picture of the main character:
QUOTE
The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV was released on March 29, 2007 at 22:00 UTC. At the time the trailer was released, Rockstar's servers for the trailer's official website became almost immediately overloaded.

The trailer is 1:03 in length, and it reveals that at least part of the game takes place in Liberty City. It features the arrival in America of an immigrant with an Eastern European accent. The character has a brief monologue: "Life is complicated; I killed people, smuggled people, sold people. Perhaps here, things will be different." The trailer ends with the "IV" and Rockstar logo.

The trailer features familiar New York City landmarks, including locations and structures resembling Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building and the MetLife Building (branded as "GetaLife"). The trailer uses a similar cinematic style to Godfrey Reggio's 1982 documentary film Koyaanisqatsi and used Philip Glass's original music from the film (a section of the track "Pruitt-Igoe") as well as emulated time-lapsed filming.

Rockstar has stated that all the trailer's footage is generated real-time by the game's engine RAGE, running on an actual game console, and was not pre-rendered. The footage has not been confirmed to be running on the Xbox 360 or the PS3.

 New Updates
Posted by MaxPayne - 03-2-07 01:22 - 0 comments
The rumors that GTA: VCS will NOT be on PS2 are NOT true! But on to the main part:
In its financial results conference call, publisher Take Two has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV will be shipped simultaneously for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in October.

Take Two also announced that Rockstar will introduce in 2008 exclusive episodic content downloads for the game.

 VCS on PS2 (Cancelled)
Posted by MaxPayne - 02-17-07 16:43 - 0 comments
Following the ongoing rumors circulating the web, and this site, about exclusive content and multiplayer for the PlayStation 2 port of Vice City Stories, Eurogamer today wrote an article that provides tangible evidence to debunk all of the recent rumors.

They've said to have contacted Rockstar Games themselves about the the specifics regarding details of the game, and reports that it will include nothing but enhanced graphics, improved draw distance and overall performance.

As I've said in my previous post, I couldn't confirm that all the recent reports about new content and even multiplayer in this version is in fact true, but i felt obliged to report this to you, considering even an official website of the publisher, albeit in Italian, clearly stated exclusive content in the PS2 version.

This is indeed strange, but again I'll keep you informed on any new information.

Following on from earlier reports that Vice City Stories appeared on ESRB's website, the title has now appeared on PlayStation.com - the official home of the PS2 platform.

Moreover though, the game now also has a model/serial number - a unique identifier that Sony awards to every title when it goes through the certification process. Vice City Stories on PS2 will be "SLUS-21590" in North America.
